David Slack is a self-taught oil painter working in an impressionist style, guided by intuition, expression, and atmosphere. His paintings prioritize mood over literal representation, allowing each work to evolve organically through expressive brushwork and thoughtful use of colour.

His visual practice is informed by a broader creative background in music, photography, and theatre, contributing to a strong sense of rhythm, composition, and narrative within his work. By balancing structure with spontaneity, Slack creates paintings that invite emotional engagement and personal interpretation.

Slack is the co-founder of The Hive, an artist collective based in Bath, Ontario, and is actively involved in supporting and fostering the local arts community. He can be found throughout the year at various art markets, and his work has been included in several exhibitions, including the Kingston Square Foot Show and the Kingston School of Art Show.
